This 1976 Holden Torana SS hatch has been rebuilt with into a tough little street machine. The car started life as a Genuine SS Torana hatch with 202ci 6cyl engine and finished in Papaya paintwork with black interior. The car was purchased by the current owner 30 years ago and pulled down to go through a full rebuild with some trick modifications.

The body of the hatch received A9X style flares and body kit to give it that aggressive stance that makes these hatches so iconic. The car received any necessary repairs before being completely professionally repainted in Sting red with gloss black outs. The external look of the car is completed with a set of period 15” Centreline wheels wrapped with 225 tyres up front and 275’s in the back.

The interior of the car has been refinished to a factory style in black with herringbone cloth inserts. The only sign that things aren’t factory under the bonnet is a pair of gauges neatly mounted under the dash on the right of the steering column. The whole interior has been refinished from the head liner to the carpets.

Lift the bonnet and you will find a tough, fully built 383ci stroker V8 engine put together from a 304ci VN EFI block. The engine build includes a COME crank, Scat H beam rods, CP Bullet forged pistons, CP rings, 4 bolt main conversion, Milodon splayed main caps, ARP fastners, ASR oil pan, ASR oversized oil pick up, custom grind Comp Cams mechanical roller cam, crane roller lifters, custom one piece push rods, ½: head stud conversion, competition ported VN heads, Ferrea Competition plus stainless valves, HDT guide plates, Crane Gold roller rockers, PSI valve springs, Manlet titanium retainers, Comp Cam 10 degree locks, race ported Harrop single plane intake and a Holley XP series 750 CFM Carb. Spark is provided thanks to a MSD 6AL-2 ignition system and a MSD billet distributor. The engine bay is well presented and there are various braided line and speed flow fittings used.

The engine is paired to a Mal Wood built TKO 5 speed manual transmission. Expelling the gasses is a set of aftermarket headers that flow into a full custom dual exhaust system A polished drop tank under the rear feed fuel using an electric fuel pump. The battery has also been relocated to the boot. This is a tough example of a tastefully modified and genuine SS Torana hatch back. These little cars are always very popular when we get good examples in stock. Be sure to register and bid to avoid missing out.
