1972 Valiant VH Charger 770

HIGHLIGHTS: – VH Charger in 770 trim level – Factory Hot Mustard Yellow – Original Light Tan interior – 265ci Hemi 6 cyl engine- Automatic transmission – Power brakes – Full log books and history

This 1972 Valiant VH Charger 770 is a great, mostly original example of one of the best looking Australian cars ever built.  The car came to us from the deceased estate of a local gent who had owned the car since 2005. He was a mechanic and car lover, who kept records of every time he drove the car during is ownership.

The body of the car was repainted in its original colour, Hot Mustard Yellow back in 2012. The paintwork was professionally completed but the engine bay was left with original paint. Looking underneath the car it is very solid but does appear to have suffered from water entering into the boot with the boot floor suffering from some holes that could use a repair at some stage. The front and rear bumpers appear to have been refinished or replaced. The car sits on a set of new chrome Jelly bean style wheels with brand new white lettered tyres.

Inside the interior trim looks to be all original in light tan vinyl. There is some wear on the two front seats with some separation at the seams you will notice in the pictures. The car has a sporty feel inside with the bucket seats, and centre console housing the automatic shifter.

Under the bonnet is the factory 265ci Hemi 6cyl engine which, in the 770 specification like this car, developed 218 BHP, 15 more than the standard 265. The six cylinder 770, was in fact quicker in most conditions than the V8 equipped 770. The engine in this car was fully rebuilt by the previous owner in 2019 and features new Hypatec pistons, a mild Dynotec cam and electronic ignition. The engine is paired to the factory automatic transmission.

The car is sold with its original owner’s manual and log books with service records which are all filled up right up until the late 80s. Every journey made in the car during the previous ownership from 2005 onwards has been logged in a notebook. A cool charger in one of the most desirable colour schemes with the infamous 265ci Hemi six.
