This 1971 Ford Mustang is a neat street car with some tasteful upgrades. The car was imported from the US in 2010 and purchased by the current owner. The car was a neat cruiser at the time and had a neat driveline in it but wasn’t looking it’s best with yellowy green paint work and a few little dents here and there. The current owner, a painter and panel beater by trade, decided to give the car a shiny new look in the way of a full repaint. The car was stripped back to bare metal where it was found that the body was extremely solid with no rust repairs required. After some body work and massaging the car was fully repainted in Sterling Silver metallic. The two-tone grey outs were painted in Gun metal grey to give the car a neat but subtle contrast. At the same time the car received new bumpers front and rear as well as new wheel arch moulds.

The interior in the car was in good shape when he got the car so other than some new carpets, it was simply cleaned and refitted to the car. So you know that there is something a bit more exciting than factory under the hood there is a Auto-meter Monster Tacho with shift light mounted to the column and a trio of Auto-meter gauges under the dash. Between the seats is a B&M quick shifter for the auto transmission.

Under the bonnet is a built 351ci Cleveland V8 engine with 4 bolt mains, mild cam and roller rockers. The engine is paired to a C4 auto transmission that was recently serviced. Feeding power to the rear wheels is a 9 inch diff with limited slip centre, 3.7:1 gears and 31 spline axles. Giving the car an awesome note out the back is the full 3” exhaust with extractors by Scott’s Rods in Ipswich. The car has power steering and is lowered slightly in the rear to give it a cooler stance. The car sits on a set of 17” Cragar Salt flat chrome wheels.
