This 2006 HSV GTO Signature coupe is a great example of a limited edition modern Aussie muscle car. The HSV Signature coupes were the last run of the legendary coupes to be sent down the HSV production line. Only 70 Signature Coupes were built and being the last of their kind, the conventional HSV individual vehicle number system, which usually begins with build number one and counts upwards, was reversed. Therefore, it became a ‘countdown’ with the final Coupé off the line to be badged number one. This particular example is build number 22 of the 70.

This particular car was sold new through Motorama Holden in Logan City, QLD on the 30^th of May, 2007. The car was purchased by the current owner approximately 11 years ago. At the time is had 64,000 kms on the clock and is now displaying 72,000 kms.

In the tradition of HSV limited edition models, the ‘Signature Coupé’ is packed full of exclusive styling cues, premium performance features and desirable appointments. All 70 cars were produced in the ever-popular Sting Red paintwork which, in this instance, has been enhanced with unique ‘Gloss Black’ accenting on the front and rear facias and ‘Signature’ badging on the rear deck lid. This car rides on a set of Marcello 20” wheels with gloss black centres and polished lips. The original 19” HSV wheels are included with the sale.

Inside, the Coupe retains its original black leather trim with HSV Logos embossed in the bucket seats front and rear. The usual Coupé standard features are present including full leather trim, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, power steering, power mirrors, power windows, power seats and Blaupunkt audio system. All of the signature cars are fitted with an electric HSV Sunroof, HSV floor mats and have the convenience of Bluetooth connectivity.

Under the bonnet lives the factory 6.0L LS2 V8 engine. The engine has been slightly upgraded with an over the radiator intake, bigger cam, lifters and performance exhaust. Again, the factory intake and cam are still with the car and included in the sale. The engine is paired to the factory four speed automatic transmission. The suspension and steering are all standard HSV items. The brakes consist of HSV’s AP Six-Piston Brakes which were one of the most powerful braking packages fitted to any road car it featuring six-piston front callipers acting on huge two-piece 362mm slotted rotors and at the rear four piston callipers and 343mm slotted rotors.

HSV recognised the fact that these ‘end of an era’ models will quickly achieve collector’s edition status with many buyers, so each of the 70 cars came with a unique owner’s framed certificate and HSV Compendium. With only 72,000 kms from new, this is a great example of a Modern collectible Aussie muscle car.
