This 1985 Holden VK HDT Group 3 ‘Peter Brock’ Commodore is a well documented, survivor car that has stood the test to time. HDT produced around 200 of these Group 3 Commodores but this one is a little unique as it was HDT fitted with the optional 5 speed transmission and additional performance upgrades. The car has only travelled 114,759 kms and is an absolute time warp.

This VK Group 3 was sold new by Ron Hodgson Holden in Cabramatta, NSW on the 8^th of May 1985 to a Mr Rynehart of Leumeah, NSW. Mr Rynehart put in an order request to HDT to have the car upgraded to include the following additional work. Blueprinted engine with hand finished cylinder heads, matched inlet manifold, blueprinted carburettor, L34 valve springs, Crane roller rockers, H/D valve lifters, double row timing chain and revised cam shaft. On top of the engine work, My Rynehart also ordered a HDT sport exhaust system and optioned the Borg Warner T5 5 speed manual transmission from HDT rather than the standard 4 speed manual. The car comes with the original owners hand book as well as the documentation from HDT and Ron Hodgson Holden when the car was purchase and for the HDT fitted upgrades.

Inside and out the car is very original and you can tell it has been very well looked after. There are some minor stone chips from road use to note but that is expected from a car of this age. The car still wears its original 16” HDT Aero wheels. The interior is incredible shape and looks like if did when the car left the factory. The bolstered bucket seats make you know you aren’t just in a run of the mill Commy. Air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable. Under the bonnet is the original, matching numbers 5.0L V8 engine which is still in its factory presentation. The HDT fitted, optional 5 speed manual gives you one more cog than standard.

The original tags are all still in place including the HDT build tag. This is a great collector quality, matching numbers, VK Group 3 with original books and documentation. These cars are rare with only 200 built and good examples like this one are hard to find.
