This 1983 Holden VH SS Commodore has been through an extensive rebuild into a super tough street machine. The car is a genuine VH SS and was sold new with a 5.0L V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission, finished in Alabaster white with Dark Claret and tweed cloth interior.
The car has been extensively upgrade and heavily modified over the course of its life. Externally the car has been repainted in its original colour. It features a HDT style bonnet scoop, bodykit, wind splitters and SS Group 2 decals. A keen eye will notice a pipe from the external wastegate out the side of the front bumper and bracket out the rear to fit a parachute. The biggest indication that things aren’t factory underneath is the stance of the car over a set of Weld wheels measuring 17” up front and 15” with bead locks in the rear.
Inside the car retains its original Dark Claret interior on the dash and door trims. The dash is modified to include a Holley dash cluster and there is a pretty extensive roll cage for safety. The front seats are now Kirky Race seats that have been cleverly trimmed in the original SS material by Instyle Custom Trim. There is also a B&M Stealth Pro Ratchet shifter neatly integrated into the factory console. The interior is in good condition, but it should be noted that there is some wear including a split on the top of the drivers door trim.
Pop the bonnet and you will see where the magic happens. The engine bay has been smoothed and painted and is very well presented. Front and centre is a LS1 V8 engine that has been upgraded with a Plazmaman 102mm throttlebody, 1250cc injectors, mild cam, LS7 lifters and a massive 76mm Borg Warner turbocharger. The exhaust system features KillaBoost manifolds along with a single 4” system including MagnaFlow mufflers and a Turbosmart 60mm external gate. A Palzaman intercooler helps keep intake temps down and a new Browns radiator with twin Spal thermos fans keeps the engine cool. The engine is paired to a reverse pattern Hughes Turbo 400 automatic transmission with transbrake and 3200 rpm TCI stall converter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a Strange 9 inch diff with 31 spline Mosler axles. On the Dyno at 14 PSI the car made 705 hp at the rear wheels.
Please note: A PPSR search on this vehicle has shown that it is registered on the WOVR as previously being a repairable write off. The registration was submitted in the year 2000 and cleared for registration in 2008 and has been registered in multiple states for years since then. We don’t have any history as to why the car was listed on the WOVR at that time.
