This 1982 Holden VH Commodore has been fully rebuilt into a HDT SS Group 3 clone. As far as replicas go this is certainly a very convincing one and would fool even knowledgeable enthusiasts. The car started life as an SL model with a factory 253ci V8 engine and a four-speed manual transmission. The rebuild of the car was undertaken by a reputable Holden and HDT enthusiast who owns a number of genuine cars and sourced a number of original and correct parts for this build.
Externally, the body of the car was stripped back and professionally repainted in Alabaster white. The car has been transformed into a Brock replica thanks to a HDT style bonnet scoop, front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, rear apron, wind splitters and SS Group 3 decals. Completing the look is a set of genuine 15” Irmscher wheels.
Inside has also been fully refurbished in HDT SS Group three style with a retrim in Dark Claret with tweed cloth inserts. The rear seats have headrests like you would expect in a group three, the steering is a Momo item with Peter Brock insignia and the gear knob features the HDT logo. There is an aftermarket stereo system in the dash for tunes while driving.
Under the bonnet now lives a 308ci V8 engine paired to a four-speed manual transmission. In the engine bay, the owner sourced the correct rocker covers and air cleaner to ensure it was as close to correct as possible. The driving experience is nice thanks to power steering and power disc brakes.
Genuine HDT Brock Commodores have soared in value over the last 10 years and even good quality replicas are now solid investments.
