1976 Holden LX Torana SS Hatch

This genuine SS 1976 Holden SS Torana hatch back has been through a 3 year, full ground up, nut and bolt restoration. The data plates decode as a July, 1976, Dandenong built, Torana SS hatchback in Mandarin Red with Chamois and Black trim, with a 253ci V8 engine and Tri-matic automatic transmission. As you can see in the photos, the car has been fully restored to exactly these specifications. The quality and detail of this restoration is excellent with great attention to detail throughout.

Starting with the body, the car was placed on a rotisserie with any necessary repairs performed. You can see from the pictures underneath the car, the body is very impressive in all ways. The car was then sent up to Brisbane to be repainted in its original Mandarin Red. We can all agree that these Toranas look their best with a big set of flares and that’s exactly what this car has fitted. The paint and panel work has been completed to an extremely high standard and presents extremely well.

Likewise, open the door and you will see a completely refinished interior back to factory that presents as well as it did the day it left the showroom floor. The seats and door trims have all been recovered in their factory Chamois coloured vinyl. The dash, centre console, carpets and headliner have all been redone.

Under the bonnet is a period correct 4.2L 253ci Holden V8 engine that has been completely rebuilt with a mild cam by Mad Race Engines on the Gold Coast. The Holden Tri-matic automatic transmission has also been rebuilt. Moving down the line there is a Banjo differential in the back and a Brown and Davis Fuel tank hanging under the rear. The car has an awesome sound thanks to a custom exhaust by Extreme Custom Engineering. The brakes and suspension have all been completely redone during the restoration. The engine bay is highly detailed in a factory style presentation that you wouldn’t hesitate to show off at a show. Likewise the undercarriage of the car is extremely tidy as you will see in the pictures.

The restoration of this SS Hatch took 3 years to complete and has been finished to the highest standard. The car was only completed early this year and has only travelled 311 kms since it was completed. These hatch’s are always extremely popular and this is certainly an incredible example.
