This 1977 Holden Torana A9X sedan was the first customer ordered A9X based on its production sequence number. The car was delivered new to Carmelo and Maria Costa of Abbortsford, NSW through Suttons Motors in Homebush on October 31st, 1977. The car was finished in (Code 568-15953) Mandarin Red with (Code 1890-18V) Black interior, one of only four A9X Sedans built in this colour combination. The chassis number of this car was the 3rd in the production sequence with the first two being GMH cars making this the first customer order.
The body of the car was stripped and repainted in its original colour with factory black outs approximately 10 years ago. The car has all of the factory flares and body kit that made the A9X famous. It sits on a set of period Hotwire wheels measuring 14×8” up front and 14×10” in the rear. The interior is factory original interior finished in black.
Under the bonnet is the 308ci V8 engine which has been fully rebuilt. The engine is built to L34 (race) spec with dual point, dual coil setup, L34 headers and factory race induction system. During the rebuild process the engine needed to be decked, which effects the stamping pad meaning the original engine number needed to be restamped into the block. The engine is paired to a factory M21 4 speed manual transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a factory A9X 10 bolt diff. The four-wheel disc brakes, steering and suspension are all A9X factory items.
The car comes to us from a private collection and is offered for sale with an extensive history file which includes the original books. The car has a Holden historical report with it and a number of verification reports from over the years including a recent ICAARS inspection.
