This 1974 Holden SLR Torana has been through a full ground up build into a tough little SLR 5000 tribute. The car is a factory 253, genuine SLR and original Persian Sands in colour. The current owner purchased the car in 2000, at that time it was already running a 308 with flares and had been repainted in Mandarin Red. He drove the car this was for a number of year, its wasn’t perfect but a great cruiser. In 2016, after the car got caught in a minor hail storm, rather than just fixing it, the decision was made to pull it off the road, back to a bare shell and take it to another level, doing it the right way. The job was tasked to Classic Restorations who stripped it back to its undies for a full rebuild. The body kit and flares were reworked a bit to make them sit nice against the body and any necessary metal work completed before being completely repainted, this time in the high impact colour of Barbados Green. The car received the A9X style bonnet, bodykit and black outs. The chrome bumpers front and rear were replaced. A set of 15” Hotwire wheels fill the big flared guards to give it that big footed stance that everyone wants in these things.

Inside the car was completely refinished back to factory look in black slate vinyl. The whole interior of the car was covered in dynamat insulation before everything from carpets to headliner were recovered. Tunes are provided by an aftermarket Kenwood stereo system with Bluetooth and USB capability.

Under the bonnet is a Holden 308 ci V8 that was completely rebuilt and upgraded. The engine build included new rings and bearings, a mild cam, stage 2 Yella Terra heads, roller rockers, Edelbrock inlet manifold, electronic distributer and Holley 750 cfm carburettor. The engine is still being run in with approximately 2000 kms on the clock since rebuild. The engine is paired to an M20, four speed manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels via a A9X style Salisbury 10 bolt differential. The suspension has been replaced and upgraded with King springs and the brakes are now Wilwood discs on all four corners.
