1975 HOLDEN HJ UTE

This 1975 Holden HJ Ute has been neatly customised into a tough and reliable street ute. The Holden ute is an iconic work horse that helped build this country. They hold a special place in the hearts of many Australians and now days, with collectors and enthusiasts. This particular example has been extensively upgraded both mechanically and cosmetically.

Starting with the body, the HJ has a Premier twin head light front end with a reverse cowl hood to give it a more aggressive look. The sides of the tub have been smoothed and shaved for a seamless look. The ute was repainted approximately four years ago in a champagne colour called Antelope Metallic. The paintwork is of a high quality and was professionally finished. The chrome bars and trim are all in good shape. Completing the look externally is a set of period polished 15 inch Weld wheels.

Inside, the cabin has been recovered in white vinyl to the door trims, headlining and seat. The dash has been painted white on the crash pad and there is a GTS steering wheel. On the floor is a B&M Automatic quick shifter and there is a Autometer Monster Tacho and shift light mounted on the steering column. The tub has been perfectly coated in black spray in ‘Rhino’ lining and covering it up is a neat, flush mounted soft tonneau cover.

Lift the bonnet and you might be surprised with what greets you. Instead of the old school carby V8, the ute runs a modern, fuel injected 5.0L V8 from a VS HSV ClubSport. This provides a great upgrade with modern performance and reliability. The engine management is handled by a new Haltech ECU. The engine is paired to a Turbo 700 automatic transmission. There is a new custom aluminium radiator keeping everything cool. The driving experience is enhanced thanks to power steering. A set of headers flow into a custom dual exhaust with quad tips exiting under the rear bumper.

This modified HJ Holden ute is a fun and reliable custom street car. The modifications are certified for QLD with a blue plate fixed to the cowl.
