1974 Holden HQ GTS 350 sedan
This 1974 Holden HQ Monaro GTS 350 sedan is a genuine matching number 4 door GTS 350 car with books. These genuine tagged “QU” Monaros have long been highly regarded among collectors as some of the most sought after Aussie muscle cars and rarely become publicly available. This car wearing its correct matching set of tags and its warranty booklets along with the chassis and engine stampings confirm that this car is in fact the real deal.
As indicated by the tags, the car was built at the Brisbane plant and sold new by Hecker Motors in Maryborough, QLD on the 21st of May, 1974. The car has survived the years incredibly well and is largely unrestored. The GTS was painted a few years back from its original colour of white to Barbados Green with black stripes. The body presents well in general and sits on a set of factory style GTS steel wheels and red striped tyres.
The original “QU” code 350ci V8 engine remains firmly in place in the engine bay of the car confirmed by the stamp pad which matches the documentation. A feat which is pretty incredible some 47 years down the track. The engine has received a set of extractors at some stage along with some minor aftermarket bolt ons which are all things that would be easily rectified by someone wanting to return the car to factory correct. The engine is paired to a turbo 400 automatic transmission.
Inside the car, the trim is showing some wear and tear from many years of use but apart from a couple of very minor tears in the drivers seat, it has held up well. While no show car in its current state, these are all things that can be rectified, the fact this car has all the matching number and supporting documentation that it’s the real deal is something that can never be brought back once this has gone. A rare opportunity to get your hands on a great piece of Aussie motoring history.
