This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette has been sent to us from part of a large private collection. Starting life out of the St Luis Plant in 1972 the Corvette was born with a 350ci engine and in Elkhart Green with Black trim. Over the years, the car has been upgraded into a big block clone. The car is fitted with a 454ci Chevy Big Block V8 engine that we are told was rebuilt by the previous owner. The engine bay features period style Mickey Thompson finned valve covers, Performer RPM manifold, Quickfuel Carb and an MSD 6A ignition system. Cooling has been upgraded with an alloy radiator and twin thermo fans. Other recent work includes a new cross spring in the rear end and the headlights upgraded to electric motors from the problematic factory vacuum operated system. The car has a nice rumble thanks to the dual exhaust system. The engine is paired to a 4 speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter. The body of the car has been repainted from its original colour to Pewter silver which suits the lines of the car well. The car has the correct style vented bonnet for a big block car and ‘454’ lettering on the side meaning without reading the vin number you would struggle to pick it wasn’t like that from factory. The trim in the car is the factory style black vinyl which you may notice some signs of age present in the photos. There are some nice options including power windows, power steering and power brakes. One of the best features of a ’72 model Corvette is the Targa tops and the removable rear window for a true wind in your hair feeling. The car has been sitting as part of a private collection and has only travelled very few kms during the last few years.
