1971 Holden LC GTR Torana

This 1971 Holden LC GTR is a very rare example of one of the late LC’s produced with the larger 173ci engine and Aussie M20 four-speed manual transmission. The majority of LC GTR Production featured 161ci engines paired with an Opal sourced manual transmission and it wasn’t until the very end of the production run that this upgrade took effect. The change isn’t something that is widely known or very well documented and certainly one that will commonly fool some of the ‘experts’.
The current owner purchased the car approximately 7 years ago from a gentleman in Perth who has owned the car for a similar period of time. The car is primarily original with mild restoration work taking place over time. When the current owner first purchased the car, it received a closed door repaint in its original colour of Salamanca Red. The black outs including the side stripe were painted on and cleared over. The car presents very well in general and sits on a set of factory style 13” rally wheels.
The interior of the car is neatly finished to a factory look in its original colour of black. The standard GTR dash features extra instrumentation including tacho, speedo, oil pressure, water temp, ammeter, and fuel gauge. The original transistor radio is still mounted to the dashboard and the steering wheel is the factory style. The front bucket seats are split with console and floor shifter and the GTR specific door trims have been recent replaced.
Under the bonnet is the correct CF prefix, high performance 173ci, 6 cylinder engine. Holden rated the engine at 130hp and 160 lbs/ft of torque. The engine is paired to the original M20, four-speed manual transmission. Standard GTR equipment included power assisted front disc brakes and rack and pinion steering with front stabilizer bar.
These little LC GTR’s don’t become available very often in the market and this one is certainly unique given its late production with upgrade driveline.
