1971 FORD ZD FAIRLANE K-CODE

This is an awesome example of a 1971 Ford ZD Fairlane 500. The car is a factory K Code, 351 ci V8, automatic in Electric Blue with Dove Grey interior and a factory wind back sunroof. As far as Fairlanes go, it doesn’t get much cooler than that.

When the current owner purchased the car, it was in good condition all round, but he continued to make improvements during his ownership. The car was repainted in its original Electric Blue colour. The chrome work and stainless trim had been replaced or refurbished. The car sits on a set of custom 16-inch Simmons wheels with 15-inch centres wrapped in brand new tyres.

Inside, the factory Dove Grey coloured trim is very tidy throughout. The headliner was recently replaced and presents like new. The factory wind back sunroof functions smoothly and makes the whole interior feel lighter and airier. Inside the boot is clean with an original boot mat in fantastic condition.

Lift the bonnet and you will see the 351 ci Cleveland V8 engine. The engine was fully rebuilt by Dandy Engines approximately four years ago. The owner informed us that the block isn’t the correct one for the ZD, but it’s period correct and has been stamped with the factory engine number at some stage. The engine was built tougher than factory with the intention of making a little over 400hp. There are 4V heads and solid cam roller rockers along with a new Holley 750 carb. The automatic transmission has been fully rebuilt with a 2000 rpm stall converter. Under the back is a 31 spline 9-inch diff. The engine bay is very nicely detailed with paint dabs and factory style markings. The Radiator has been refurbished and the wiper motor is new. Underneath, the springs and shocks have been replaced with new parts and painted correctly. The braking system has been completely gone over and refurbished or replaced.

These Fairlanes have certainly gained in popularity and collectability over the last few years. This car has been owned by enthusiasts and reputable GT club members for the last 20 plus years. You will struggle to find a higher quality example in a great colour combo this number of options and upgrades.
