LOT 27 – SOLD! – 1971 FORD FALCON XY GT REPLICA

1971 Ford Falcon XY GT HO Replica

This 1971 Ford XY GT HO replica is an older restoration that many people would find difficult telling apart from the real deal. The built of the car started back in the 90s where it was pulled apart and painted in Vermillion Fire before the project came to a holt. The car was stored for a long time disassembled back from paint work and wasn’t restarted until 2019.

The Falcon runs a Mild 351ci Cleveland V8, the same type that would have been between the strut towers of an original. The iconic shaker sits proud on top and pokes its head up through the hole in the hood. The outlook from the driver’s seats of these cars watching that shaker move around is one of the best parts of the driving experience. The engine is paired to a 4 speed top loader manual transmission and the power is fed to the rear wheels via an ever dependable 9” diff. The rear end runs 2.7 gears so its set up to be more of a highway cruiser than a traffic light racer.

The interior has been completely redone in factory style in black. The dash, console and steering wheel have all been swapped out for GT gear. The inside of the boot is neatly painted and tidy underneath the correct style carpet mat. Outside the car has all the GT stripes, badging, spot lights, mirrors, front and rear spoilers, bonnet pins and dual exhaust.

These XY GT Replicas are always super popular and with the 50th anniversary of the infamous GT HO this year, prices of genuine cars are hitting record highs. With those prices pushing out of reach of most people, reps like these can provide the same charm, looks and fun, for a fraction of the price.
