1970 Holden Monaro HG GTS350

HIGHLIGHTS: – Top of the tree HG GTS 350 – Full nut and bolt restoration – Desirable colour combination – Factory matching numbers 350ci V8 engine – Automatic transmission – 10 bolt diff

This 1970 Holden HG Monaro has been through a 10 year, full nut and bolt restoration to a very high level. The car was built in the Dandenong GM-H factory in Victoria. Not much is known about the early history of the car other than the fact it ended up in WA in the early 2000’s and went through a 10 year nut and bolt restoration to a very high standard. The car was completely stripped and repainted in its original Indy Orange with GTS black outs. The chrome and badges were all refinished or replaced. Completing the look on the outside is a set of factory steel wheels with factory hubcaps and red striped tyres.

Inside the car has also been completely refinished. The tags say the interior should be straight black vinyl but the gent restoring the car instead opted for black trim with the optional Orange houndstooth inserts. This was a factory available option, just not one that came on this particular car. Everything from the carpets to the headliner has been replaced inside. Likewise, inside the boot is refinished to factory in black with the factory style mat covering the big tank and spare in correct placement.

Under the bonnet there is the original matching numbers 350ci V8 engine. The engine has been completely rebuilt and the engine bay finished to an extremely high factory standard. Lots of attention has been paid to ensure items are correct. The engine is paired to an automatic transmission with T bar shifter that pokes up through the center console. The suspension and brakes were all refurbished during the rebuild and the diff is the factory 10 bolt.

Once the restoration was finished, the car was purchased by ‘Classics for a Cause’ who raffled it off for charity. The lady who won the car could benefit a lot more from the money than she would from having the Monaro parked in the garage and in turn has asked us to sell the car on her behalf. This is a rare opportunity to pick up a top of the tree HG Monaro and a high quality, collector grade Aussie muscle car.
