1970 Ford Falcon XY GT Sedan – Rebodied

This 1970 Ford XY GT Falcon comes to us from a private collection where it has lived since 2018. The car has been through an extensive restoration and won many awards since completion. The car is presented in its tag colour combination of (X code) Monza Green with (B code) Black interior. The car went through a bare metal respray in 2019 which has been completed to a high standard. The car has all the correct GT appointment with black outs, bonnet pins, shaker, front spoiler and a gold GT stripe. The car sits on a set of correct style 5 slot wheels with red stipe tyres.

Inside the car has been restored with the correct black basket weave trim. The interior is of a very high quality throughout. Pop the boot and you will find the correct style rubber floor mat with everything neatly painted like it would have been from factory.

Under the bonnet is an April, 1970 date coded 351ci Cleveland V8 engine which has been rebuilt to phase III specifications. The engine bay is detailed back to factory look with all the decals, paint dabs and stampings. Bolted to the engine is a set of Phase III headers that flow into the factory style dual exhaust. The GT tag shows B as an automatic but is running a 4 speed top loader manual transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels via the 9” diff.

This car was sent down to us on consignment from reputable collectors who have had the car for a number of years. The car has been shown at a number of shows and won a host of awards during that time. As part of the consignment process, we had an ICAARS verification report conducted on the car which revealed inconsistencies and the car to have been rebodied. Tracing the ownership back, it was determined that this most likely happened in the 90s and has been through a number of owners, shown and judged for a number of years as a correct GT, undiscovered, during this time. The car is still an incredible Falcon, tagged and stamped as a real GT and it took an expert inspecting the car with cameras down frame rails and up on a hoist to find any inconsistency.  Obviously, it was important from a value perspective to ensure this was disclosed to our buyers and we have spoken with our consignors who have since significantly adjusted their reserve on the car to reflect this.
