1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1

This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 has been through an extensive rebuild with tasteful modifications. The current owner is the second Australian owner, having purchased the car from the gent who imported it back in 2013. Most of the restoration work was completed in the USA in the early 2000’s but the current owner has continued to spend large sums of money on the car to improve it during his ownership.

The car was stripped back to a bare shell and repainted in metallic blue with correct Mach 1 style blackouts and sits lowered over a set of 18” Magnum 500 style wheels. Open the door, and the inside has been fully refinished in black vinyl with the factory trim pattern. The dash features a full set of Dakota Digital gauges, and the steering wheel is a rim blow horn type. Creature comforts include power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. There is a large stereo setup in the car featuring an Alpine head unit, Sound stream equaliser, custom parcel self and a boot install that features a 12” sub, capacitor and two amplifiers.

Under the bonnet is a 351 ci Cleveland V8 with 4 dot 4V heads, fast fuel injection and an MSD ignition. The engine is paired to a 5-speed, Tremec manual transmission with a new clutch. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 9-inch differential with 3.75 ratio Currie rear end. The steering has been upgraded to an RRS power rack-and-pinion item which is a substantial upgrade over the original. The brakes are power booster with discs up front and drums in the rear. Shocks have been upgraded to Koni adjustables and the springs and suspension bushes have been replaced front and rear. The car has a nice rumble thanks to a 3” Magnaflow stainless exhaust system.
