This 1970 Ford Falcon XW has been rebuilt into an XW GT replica. The car started life as a Falcon 500 sedan, built in the Ford Broadmeadows plant that has since been modified as a tribute to the Falcon GT.
The outside of the car has been repainted some time ago in Nugget Gold with the appropriate GT black outs. The paintwork on the car could be described as driver quality with some imperfections and minor signs or wear and tear. The car lots of the GT specific items you would expect including bonnet scoop, black outs, GT stripe, GT grille, fuel cap, badges, driving lights and front and rear spoilers. Completing the look on the outside is a set of 5 slot wheels with red striped tyres.
Inside the car the interior received a refresh starting with new carpets. The seats were recovered using the original pattern black vinyl. The door trims were all replaced with new items and the dash, console and steering wheel are all GT specific. The original stereo has been swapped out for an aftermarket Pioneer head unit which adds USB and auxiliary input. A venetian blind in the rear window rounds out the period correct look.
Under the bonnet now lives a 351ci Cleveland V8 engine that is fitted with a Holley performance carb, electronic ignition and Gilmer belt drive. Keeping everything cool is a new alloy radiator with twin thermos fans. The engine is paired to a four-speed single rail manual transmission. Exhaust gasses escape through aftermarket extractors and a custom exhaust. The suspension and brakes all appear to be standard items.
This XW has been built into a tribute to the infamous GT and is one that you can get out and bang through the gears in without having to worry about it being too valuable to take anywhere. These GT replicas are always popular so be sure to register and bid if you want to park this one in your garage.
