This is a fantastic example of a rotisserie restored, 1969 Ford XW Futura sedan. Often turned into GS or GT replicas this Futura has been restored back to as original as possible. The Futura is an unusual model that you don’t see as often these days sitting middle of the road between the Falcon and the Fairmont. What makes this car even more unique is the colour scheme the car was ordered with being Grecian Gold with a dark red trim, certainly a bold choice by the original owner.
The car was ordered new as a factory 302ci V8 and column shift automatic transmission. The previous owner was a painter and panel beater who owned the car for 21 years. It was his father’s car for a long time, and they decided to build the car together as a father/son project. The car was taken back to bare shell and stripped to bare metal for a full restoration approximately 7 years ago. The body was in extremely good shape for a car of its age with only a couple of very tiny repairs required. The car was then completely repainted in its original Grecian Gold Paint colour.
There is a lot of detail in this car that could be easily overlooked. We want you to look at the photos of this car in detail especially things like the underbody, the corners of the door, door jambs etc. where you can really see the quality of the car start to show through. The engine is the original 302 to the car and was given a freshen up back to factory specs before being put back in. There is a set of extractors on the car to help it breathe a little better. The original automatic transmission was changed from a column shift over to a floor shift, one of the few modifications the car received in its life.
The interior of the car is in extremely good condition all round. The current owner is the 4th owner of the car from new. High quality, early Falcons Futuras and Fairmonts are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Matching numbers, factory V8 cars that have been well restored are even more difficult. We think this is a great example and love the fact it is a little different being a Futura in a bit of an unusual colour scheme.
