1969 FORD FALCON XW GS SEDAN

This 1969 Ford XW Falcon sedan has been rebuilt in a factory-style 351 ci V8, 4 speed GS replica. The car was assembled at the Brisbane plant and sold new through Metro Ford. We believe the car has been a QLD car its whole life, for the largest part in Central Queensland. This dry climate is the main factor the car has such a good solid body on it. The previous owner lived in Rockhampton and owned the car for 17 years. He took the base model six-cylinder drivetrain and replaced it with the 351 ci V8, top loader manual transmission and nine-inch diff still in the car today.

Externally the car was repainted in white with the addition of a gold-coloured GS stripe down the side.  Other notable additions include the front GT style spoiler, driving lights, overriders, and a set of bonnet pins. The chrome and trim were refinished and presented well all round. The car sits lowered over a set of original style five-slot steel wheels with red striped tyres.

Inside, the car has been completely refinished approximately five years ago in burgundy. The interior features bucket seats and centre console along with a GS dash and steering wheel. Everything inside has been refinished from the carpets to the headliner. A venetian blind mounted in the rear window provides some character.

Under the bonnet is a 351 ci Cleveland V8 sourced from an F100. The engine was fully rebuilt in 2014 and put into the car along with a 4-speed top loader manual transmission. The radiator was replaced at the same time. The engine bay is extremely well detailed back to factory with correct engine colour, decals and accessories. There is a new wiper motor on the firewall and a period-correct battery cover. It should be noted that the original tags are not with the car, however the chassis number is stamped in the radiator support which is all that is required for registration.

These XW and XY Falcons are always extremely popular, and we think this is a fantastic example. You often see GT replicas getting around, but this car is a perfect way to have all the same gear in a different package. A nice street cruiser that you will be more than happy to pop the bonnet and show off at your local car show.
