This Right Hand Drive, 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 has undergone a full nut and bolt ground up restoration since arriving in Australia, completed in approximately 2005. The car has won a number of awards since completion including Gold at Mustang Owners State Concours in 2005, 2nd at Motor Ex in 2006 and 1st at All American Day 2007.

The Fastback was built in Dearborn, Michigan and rolled off the production line on the 27th of January, 1965. The car was sold new in Los Angeles in California where it lived most of it’s life before being imported to Australia in the early 2000s. The car has been meticulously restored in Australia and refinished in its original colour combination of Caspian Blue Metallic with Palomino crinkle vinyl trim.

The body on the car has been striped completely back and put on a rotisserie. The floor pans are coated in the original style red oxide as they would have been from the factory. The car has then been relentlessly body worked to ensure the panels were laser straight and perfectly gapped before being recoated in its original Caspian Blue Metallic colour. There is a book with photos documenting the process of the restoration that will go along with the car

Under the bonnet is the original A Code, 289ci 4V Windsor V8 engine paired to its original 4 speed manual transmission. The engine bay as well as the undercarriage are finished to a concours standard with delivery markings painted on everything and a great attention to detail used throughout. The car has GT options along with heavy duty suspension and Kelsey Hayes 4 spot disk brakes. Power is fed to the rear wheels via the original 8 ¾” Ford differential which has been completely rebuilt.

Inside the car has been completely retrimmed in its original Palomino colour scheme. The first thing you notice is the RHD conversion which has been seamlessly executed and looks factory. Other desirable options include GT steering wheel, rally pack gauges, power steering and centre console. If you are looking for a right hand drive, 1965 Fastback and quality is important to you, then this is the car you should buy.
