1966 RHD Ford Mustang Fastback

HIGHLIGHTS: – Full ground up build by ‘Classic Speed’ – Right hand drive converted – 347ci V8 engine with Fuel injection – AOD automatic transmission – 9” differential – Air conditioning – Rack and pinion power steering – Four-wheel disc brakes – Upgraded stereo system

This RHD 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback has undergone a full rotisserie, nut and bolt rebuild, completed in 2010 by ‘Classic Speed’. Classic Speed is a highly regarded restoration and modification business based in the Phillipines, who specialise in bespoke, built to order, high end restorations of classic Mustangs. This car is Classic Speed build number 275 and has been extremely well optioned with the end result far exceeding anything that would have left the factory in 1966. Classic Speed sourced an original A Code Fastback out of California for the build that was in extremely good condition to begin with. The body was placed on a rotisserie and the body work performed with some subtle body modifications that include all steel flares guards, functional side scoops, Shelby style plexi-glass rear quarter windows and a vented bonnet with Shelby style hood pins. The entire body including the engine bay and underside were then painted in Raven Black with Candy Apple Red GT350 stripes. All of the badges, chrome work and trim on the cars were replaced or refurbished. The stance of the car is perfect sitting over a set of American Racing Torque D wheels measuring 15×7 fronts and 15×8 on the rear wrapped in BF Goodrich tyres.

Under the bonnet is a Blueprint Engine’s 415hp 347ci Ford V8 engine running FAST EFI Fuel Injection. The engine bay looks reasonably factory at first glance and is nicely detailed with a serpentine belt conversion with billet pulleys, chrome compressor and alternator. The engine is paired to an AOD Ford Automatic transmission that feed power through to a Ford 9″ diff with LSD center. The Stang is right hand drive converted and features rack and pinion power steering as well as upgraded brakes to Willwood discs all round with power booster and dual reservoir master cylinder. An upgraded alloy radiator keeps everything nice and cool.

The first thing you notice when you open the door is the steering position being changed over to right hand drive. The interior holds a huge number of upgrades but has kept its old school look. Firstly, the trim itself has been redone in black using real leather instead of vinyl as it would have been from factory. The steering column is a polished tilt item and the steering wheel is a Mota-lite item. The gauges are a complete set of Autometer Sport-Comp items. There is a touch screen Clarion stereo system in the car with Bluetooth connectivity and speakers subtly mounted around the cabin. There is a Classic Speed Centre console between the front seats with brushed aluminium trim, storage compartment and cup holder. Creature comforts include, cruise control, air conditioning, power steering, remote central locking and immobiliser.

The car is blue plated for modifications in QLD and has been previously on full QLD registration.  There is a file of documentation with the car including the build documents from Classic Speed and various manuals. We think this car represents the best parts of owning an iconic and classic Mustang but packed with great modern features and upgrades to be better than anything that you could have purchased when the car was new.
