This 1966 Chevy Corvette Stingray is an iconic American sports car that has been neatly restored. These second generation Corvettes have continued to grow in popularity with enthusiasts and collectors due to their timeless sporty styling and raw driving experience. This particular stingray began life in GM’s St Luis plant as a factory Ermine white with Black interior stingray roadster fitted with a 350hp small block V8 and manual transmission. During the restoration, the car was upgraded to a more potent 427 big block spec.
The body of the car has been neatly restored in its original colour of Ermine white and presents well all round. The bonnet on the car has been upgraded to a 1967 big block style hood with air scoop and black detail down the middle. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim was all either refinished or replaced. There is a folding soft top with new black canvas fitted. The optional side pipes let that big block sound rumble and help give the car a lower side profile. The exterior is completed with a set of Turbine knock off style wheels with red striped tyres.
The inside of the car has been refinished back to factory in black. The original style three spoke steering wheel remains front and centre. The original gauges are in good condition and the carpets have been replaced on the floors. The factory style manual shifter pokes out from the centre console between the bucket seats. For tunes while cruising there is a Bluetooth capable, classic look, Retrosound stereo system.
Under the bonnet now lives a big block, 427ci V8 engine with Tri-power carb setup. The engine bay is well presented in a factory style. The engine is paired for a four-speed, close ratio, manual transmission. The suspension and brakes under the car are all factory items that have been rebuilt and maintained.
This is a great example of a C2 convertible in a classy colour combination and with a bunch of nice period upgrades. The feeling of driving a vintage Corvette convertible down the road with a big block rumbling out the side pipes, and banging through the gears is just something you need to experience to understand.
