This is a very tidy example of a 1964 Ford Falcon challenger 2 door wagon. The ultimate surf wagon or family cruiser! 1964 represented the fork in the road for styling where Ford Australia and Ford USA moved away from sharing the falcon styling and took different paths. Here in Australia, we got the now Australian designed XM, where the US moved to a Falcon Sprint.
This two door US-spec wagon is a very rare and interesting body style. The car was imported into the country in 2017 and was purchased as a rolling shell by the current owner and restored to what you see today. The shell was rubbed back and painted in Beach Blue with Moroccan Ivory two tone accents. The chrome was refinished and shines nicely in the sun. The paint and body are in good condition all round and present very well.
Under the bonnet is the factory 289ci V8 paired with a C4 Automatic transmission. The front end is all Mustang gear with upgraded brakes to include a dual master cylinder power system with disks and four piston calipers up front. In the rear the diff has been rebuild. Custom exhausts exit out each side just in front of the rear wheels A pair of thermo fans help keep everything cool. The car sits lowered over a nice set of US Mag wheels and white wall tyres.
Inside the wagon has been nicely retrimmed in cream vinyl with bucket seats put in the front and custom center console with storage and cup holders. The original bench front seat and matching trim kit while not currently fitted, is available with the car. The rear has the original fold down bench seat so there is room for the whole family but you can have the extra cargo space when required. The carpets have been redone throughout as has the headliner. Retaining its original left hand drive position, a custom billet and wood steering wheel looks right at home on the end of the column. The gauges have been updated with a factory style cluster in km/h to save doing the conversion from miles. There is also a trio of aftermarket gauges under the dash to keep an eye on the vital signs. An aftermarket pioneer stereo is neatly installed in the dash. Under dash air conditioning is fitted and works nice and cold for those summer days out cruising. The car is fitted with an immobilizer switch for security.
All in all, this is a great example and a very rare and unique body style. A folder full of receipts and documentation is available with the car for various items purchased during the build. The wagon would make a great family cruiser, promotional vehicle or surf wagon. Be quick to avoid disappointment.
