1964 Chevrolet Nova SS Coupe

This 1964 Chevy Nova SS is an extremely well presented, understated and tough little car. The Nova’s has always been popular with hot rodders and drag racers due to their compact size and light weight, the perfect car to stick a big engine in and go fast. This particular example is the hugely desirable and top of the tree for 1964, pillarless hardtop body style in SS trim. This car has been completely restored inside and out to look like it did when it left the factory in 1964 but upgraded to be an understated sleeper.

Starting with the body, the car has been repainted in its original colour which is 920 code Almond Fawn Metallic. The bodywork on the car is extremely nice and the paintwork has been finished to a high standard. Likewise, the chrome work and external trim on the car has all been replaced or refinished to look the way it would have when it left the showroom floor in 1964. The pillarless body style is super cool and the car wears all of the correct style SS gear. The only modification externally you mighty notice is a very subtle reverse cowl on the bonnet that could be easily mistaken for factory. The car sits on a set of factory rally style wheels with red striped tyres.

Likewise, the interior or the car has been fully restored in its original 702 code saddle trim with bucket seats. The interior is completely factory looking with the exception of a B&M Pro ratchet shifter mounted between the front seats hinting that there may be more hiding under the bonnet than you would expect.

Pop the hood and this is where the party gets started. Lurking underneath is a fully built 406ci small block Chevy V8. Starting with a GM 4 bolt block, the engine received a Scat 4340 crank, Scat Rods, L19 Bolts, SRP forged pistons with floating pins and Total Seal rings that were file fit. There is a Romac balancer, Howards roller cam, Comp Cam roller lifters and Kiwi Pro 220 ported heads. On top sits a Edelbrock Super Victor intake manifold and Pro Systems Carb. The transmission is a Turbo 400 Automatic and feeding power to the rear wheels is a 9” diff. The suspension has all been replaced with the work performed by Suspension Dynamics.

This little Nova is a fast and fun little car that has been built to a very high standard. The original owners manual and Californian title are supplied with the car. This Nova is a top spec model for that year and restored to match the original specs listed on the build plate with all the go-fast gear to make it fun.
