This 1963 Holden EJ Special station wagon has been through a full ground up nut and bolt restoration. The car was built in Holden’s Perth plant and sold new to a lady in WA in 1963. The car left the factory finished in this incredible coastal colour scheme of two-tone Sepik Green with Atherton Ivory roof. The car lived most of its life with the original owner before being purchased by Joe Zapp, who is an automotive panel beater and spray painter in 2009. Joe stripped the car down and did a complete nut and bolt restoration to bring it back to the way it would have left the factory.
The body was stripped back to bare metal and the necessary rust repairs required performed before being recoated in its original colour scheme. The chrome bumpers front and rear were refinished and all of the external badges and trim were replaced or restored. All of the rubbers, felts and hardware were replaced. There is an accessory sun visor on the front and the car sits over a set of original steel wheels with hubcaps and thin white wall tyres.
Inside the car is a similar story, again the car is completely refinished from carpets to headliner in a factory presentation. The dash is nicely painted, the gauges are clear and the factory steering wheel sits front and centre. The rear window and rear side windows are all fitted with venetian blinds for a cool touch.
Under the bonnet lives the factory 138ci Holden 6cyl grey engine paired to a Hydra-matic automatic transmission. The engine bay is again, extremely well presented and restored back to factory. The suspension and brakes are both rebuilt factory items.
