1963 Holden EH Premier Wagon
This 1963 EH Holden Premier station wagon was initially ordered by a butcher in Sydney who wanted to do home deliveries, but in style. When he went to the dealership, he found that there was no Premier model available as a station wagon in the EJ series so it was suggested to him that he wait until the release of the EH Premier wagon in August. This is said to be one of the first Premiers off the production line which corresponds with its low engine serial number.
The wagon was then purchased by a Motor trimmer who gave the trim a refresh before using the car for many years as a static display. It’s third owner purchased the Prem it in the late 80’s who used the car sparingly before being sold to its current owner in approximately 2017. When the current owner purchased the car was in very good survivor condition. The interior was near perfect from when the second owner refinished it still just the original paint was a little faded.
The car still runs the original 179ci 6 cyl engine paired with a Hydramatic transmission that was rebuilt during the current ownership. The original brakes and fuel systems have all been gone through and refurbished. The car still runs its original generator and retains the same options that it left the factory with.
Last year, the owner decided to give the original paintwork a refresh. The car was very solid having lived indoors for the majority of its life so only a small area at the bottom of the front guard required attention. The owner was able to source a new old stock genuine front guard for the car so this was replaced instead of repairing the original one. The car was completely repainted in its original colour of Roebuck Pearl with a Fowlers Ivory coloured roof. All of the chrome work, trim, badges and lenses that were pulled off the car were still in great condition so were fitted back to the car after it was painted.
These early Holden’s are always popular with collectors and enthusiasts. We think that this top of the tree EH Premier Wagon is certainly a fantastic investment grade example. The car comes with its factory hand book and Nasco accessory brochure.
