This 1959 Chevy Apache short wheel base Fleetside pick up has been through an extensive ground up custom build. The truck was professionally pieced together over 14 months by SCC Fabrications on the Gold Coast and has only travelled approximately 1,000 kms since completion.

Starting with the body, the original truck came off a farm in Sacramento, California where it had lived all of its life, and although it had some character from years of use, was quite solid. The plan with this build was always to do a ‘Patina’ style truck so the body was sent off to Gold Coast 2 Pac for them to redo it inside and out in a Teal Patina look. The patina look continues into the door jambs and under side of the bonnet with a colour matched spray in lining on the inside of the bed. Along with the new paint work, the truck received a new chrome front bumper, chrome grille, headlight surrounds, headlights, door handles, bed chains and badges. The glass and rubbers we also replaced at the same time. The look is absolutely completed externally by a set of Raceline Obsession billet wheels measuring 20×8.5” up front and 22×11” in the rear.

Open the door to the truck and you will see an all-new interior from top to bottom. The moulded bench seat and full door trims are TMI items in a distressed look Tan finish. The carpets and headliner are all new custom items by Timeless Auto Trim. In the gloss black painted dash is a set of new Dakota Digital gauges and a double din touch screen infotainment unit. There is a chrome tilt steering column holding a Forever Sharp wheel. Keeping everything comfortable inside is ‘Vintage Air’ air conditioning. The original fuel tank has been removed from the cab and replaced with an alloy cell in the rear.

Under the skin there is a huge amount of engineering starting with a full Choppin Block chassis out of the USA supplied by Muscle Car Imports. The chassis come with engineering certification for Australia as a replacement chassis including torsion testing to Australian Standards. The chassis is an incredible upgrade and features an independent front end with rack and pinion power steering. Out back there is a triangulated four link set up. The engine chassis has been powder coated in Rustic Brown to keep in with the theme. Slamming the truck to the ground is air bag suspension with Slam Bags SS7’s all round. Air Management is tasked to Accuair e-level with self-levelling and pre-set ride heights. Air is supplied by an Accuair CVT that has been converted to a VT with dual external compressors.

Under the bonnet is a 6.0L LS2 V8 engine for modern performance and reliability with an upgraded cam installed by Hi Torque Performance. There are Swiftek alloy valve covers, and valley cover along with a Holley high Ram intake. Dressing up the front is a CVF black billet pulley kit. Keeping everything cool is a custom black PWR radiator with thermos fan. The engine bay is neatly presented with Billet hinges and smoothed fire wall and inner guards painted in gloss black. A full custom stainless 2 ½” exhaust by SCC Fabrications allows the gasses to flow freely. Paired to the engine is a 6L80e 6 speed automatic transmission which is operated by a column shifter. Feeding power to the rear wheels is a shortened 9” diff with 3.55 diff gears and 31 spline axles. Brakes are upgraded with a CPP Master cylinder and power booster feeding four-wheel disc brakes with 6 piston Wilwood’s up front. The truck was completely rewired by Superior Auto electrics.

Since completion the truck has only travelled approximately 1,000 kms and has picked up a few awards including Best Commercial at Harrigans hot rod show and a total of 5 trophies at the Gold Coast Car show in 2021.
