1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville

This 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville was purchased by a car collector in Geelong, Victoria and brought over from Las Vegas as a personal import in the early 1990’s. The gent, who was in his 70s at the time, flew over to hunt for the best car he could find in the US. Once the car arrived in Australia the car was sent to Stylerod Panels in Corydon for a right hand drive conversion and full restoration. The owner tells us this process cost around $100,000 at the time.

The car has been restored in its original colour combination of (code 32) Inverness green metallic with (code 12) Dover white roof. The chrome and bright work on the car was all refinished back to factory which is a massive and expensive undertaking. The external look is completed with the factory steel wheels and hubcaps along with a set of wide white wall radial tyres.

Inside the car has been completely refinished with the factory style (Code 46) Medium Green with Coronado cloth insert. The conversion has been completed to a very high standard and looking at the car from the inside you can’t tell it wasn’t that was from the factory. There is a bunch of factory creature comforts which includes power windows, power seat, power brakes and power steering. The car is a factory air conditioning car however this is not currently functional.

Under the bonnet is the rebuilt original 390ci V8 engine which is paired to a 4 speed automatic transmission. These 50’s Cadillac’s float down the road like nothing else you have ever driven. The developers of the car really did focus on luxury ride and driving experience. Today these cars are absolutely iconic, extremely collectible and very expensive to restore.
