1957 CHEVY BELAIR
The 1957 Chevrolet Belair is one of the most iconic cars of all time. No good car collection is complete without a 57 Chevy among its ranks. This particular car has undergone an extensive restoration in the United States before being purchased through a large classic car dealers by the current Australian owners and imported to Australia.
The absolutely beautiful combination of Tropical Turquoise & contrasting interior trim is the Top shelf pick of many in the 1957 Belair. The quality of the restoration is certainly high with the car winning Best Authentic Runner Up at the Tri five Chevy Nationals in 2011 and Top 60 at Summernats 25 in 2012 along with the Elite Top Custom Classic Award.
The original 283ci V8 has been removed from the car and replaced with a 350ci V8 crate engine which has travelled very few kms since. The engine bay is dressed to minic the original engine using the factory style air cleaner and correct paint scheme. The engine is paired with a Turbo 350 3 speed Automatic transmission that is shifted through the factory style column shifter. The 350/350 combo certainly provides great performance and reliability over the original combination. The suspension and differential are all factory items in good condition. The original 283ci V8 engine is available with the car and said to be in good condition.
The paint and panel on the car are in fantastic condition having been completely redone in the car’s factory Tropical Turquoise and White colour scheme. Likewise the chrome work is in fantastic condition all round and there is a hell of a lot of it on these cars! All of the stainless trim and chrome shines brightly in the sun. The undercarriage and floor pans are fantastic and not heavily coated in deadening like most of these cars but instead finished in the original style red oxide underneath. No secrets to hide here.
The interior is just as nice as outside being completely refurbished in the correct style trim with the famous 57 Belair “Cloud Pattern” inserts. The original steering wheel and gauges have been refurbished and are all in excellent condition. There is a small subtle trio of gauges mounted under the dash to keep an eye on vital signs. Lap only seat belts are fitted front and rear for safety.
This is a beautifully restored example of one of the most iconic cars of all time. The car has had some minor drivability and reliability upgrades but has certainly been restored to maintain the factory style and charm in every way. A multi award winning example that is ready to go off to its new home.
