This 1955 Ford F100 has been through a full ground up rebuild into a one-off custom truck. The previous owner built the car from the chassis up over an eight-year period completed in 2015. The project started with a RHD cab and doors found on a farm in central Victoria. The tub came separately, and the chassis custom built to suit. The brief was to build a classy custom truck with big wheels, tough stance, and big horsepower.

The bones of the truck were trusted to CJ’s Rod & Race fabrications who essentially designed it from scratch to work around the massive wheels. They put the chassis together for it utilising an independent front end and steering from a HQ holden up front and a parallel four link with pan hard bar in the rear. To ensure the car had the right stance air bag suspension was used to slam it down to the ground. Twin compressors are used for air supply and there is a Dakota Digital DHC ride height controller.

The body of the truck received hours of custom fabrication work that could easily be overlooked at first glance. Starting up front the badges have been shaved off the bonnet with the opening converted to reverse tilt. The front bumper was deleted and mounts removed for a one piece smooth front gravel guard. Under the bonnet the guards and inner fenders have been welded together to there are no fender bolts and the firewall is shaved smooth. The cowl vent has neatly integrated windscreen washers. The door latches have been upgraded to modern style units. The side steps have been shaved smooth as have the seams on the cab. The entire tub has been widened with the guard welded smooth to the tub sides. The ends of the tub are filled with a custom fabricated bed floor and integrated wheel tubs for the massive wheels. The widened tailgate has tapered ends with reveal panel added under the rear. The whole dash and inside of the door jambs have been smoothed over for a show quality finish. Once the extensive bodywork was complete, the car was completely repainted in a colour called “Palomino”. The colour is a classy and timeless choice that looks grey in most light but does through some subtle gold and bronze tones. Externally the car was fitted with billet tail light and mirror mounts, LED tail lights, new door handles and new headlights. Completing the look are the massive Intro Billet wheels measuring 20” up front and 22×12” in the rear.

Open the door and you will be met by a full custom leather interior by Kooltrim. The interior is all class, with cream trim, a perforated hood lining and German square-weave carpet. The seat is moulded into two buckets joined with fold down arm rest. The dash is shaved smooth with a set of Ford Performance gauges mounted in a polished billet housing. The steering column is a chrome tilt item and holds an Intro steering wheel. The glass and rubbers in the truck were all replaced with new items during the build. The power windows with billet switches are a nice touch of luxury.

Under the bonnet of the truck lives an 800hp, built 545ci Ford Big Block V8 engine by Riverside Motors. The build started with a 460 block with the addition of a Scat stroker crank, Scat rods and a set of 12.5:1 pistons. A package from Kaase Racing Engines including a set of heads, intake and carby was used. Spark is provided by an ICE ignition system. The result was a tough big block that made 813hp at 6,500 rpm on the dyno. Since then, the engine has been upgraded to include a FAST EFI fuel injection system for added reliability and performance. The front of the engine is fitted with a serpentine belt kit and the engine bay is highly detailed. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of custom 4 into 1 headers feeding a custom dual, 3” stainless exhaust system.

The engine is paired to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission which was fully rebuilt by Charlie Gauci to handle 1000hp. The power is fed to the rear wheels through a Ford nine inch diff. The brakes have been upgraded to include power assisted discs all round with massive six piston calipers and two-piece, drilled and slotted rotors up front along with four piston calipers and two-piece, drilled and slotted rotors in the rear. The truck was built to be a touch driver and never intended to sit at a car show with mirrors under it however it is certainly well presented and detailed underneath. A custom made towbar is included in the sale (but not currently fitted) if you decide you want to pull a vintage caravan, trailer or ski boat.

Upon completion the truck was featured in Street Machine magazine in November of 2016 and you can view the article by clicking the image below.

The truck has been engineered and registered in both Victoria and QLD. Trucks built to this quality don’t come up for sale very often and this one being tastefully modified, highly detailed, right hand drive, air bagged and with a tough as nails drive train is about as cool as they come.
