1950 Chevrolet 3100 pick up
This 1950 Chevy 3100 pick up has been extensively modified into a super cool cruiser. Starting with the chassis, the truck ditches the old leaf spring front in favour of a Mustang II style independent front setup. This includes rack and pinion power steering and power disc brakes up front. The rear has a Devious Customs triangulated four link with air bags on all four corners. The air is supplied thanks to twin compressors feeding a 5 gal tank mounted under the tub. Air management is looked after using Accuair elevel which provides 3 pre-set ride heights, independent corner control and self levelling. It really is a set and forget style system that is configured to pop up to ride height as soon as you hit the ignition key.
Powering the truck is a 350ci V8 engine paired to a Turbo 700 automatic transmission with Lokar shifter. The fuel tank has been relocated from the factory position inside the cab to under the rear of the tub.
Inside the truck has been carpeted with a re-trimmed bench seat and door trims. The dash contains Dakota digital gauges to keep an eye on all of the vital signs. There is a chrome tilt steering column which holds a billet steering wheel with wooden rim. The tub has received a bedwood kit with chrome strips and the floor has been raised up to allow suspension underneath.
The truck has been painted a bold red colour which offsets well against the chrome grille and bumpers. The fuel filler in the cab has been shaved and relocated to a door on the rear guard. The truck is neat but wasn’t built to be a show pony, it has small “character” dents all around it and while it is well presented in general, it was built to be driven and from a paint and body perspective, is far from perfect. It is however, a good solid truck and has a super cool look, especially when laid out on the ground. The truck sits slammed over a set of chrome smoothie steel wheels with wide white wall radial tyres
