1940 Ford Pick up RHD
This right hand drive 1940 Ford Pick Up has been nicely restored and tastefully modified into a period custom cruiser. The build took place in approximately 2010 where the truck was stripped back to its original 40 Ford frame. The frame and suspension of the pick up remain standard items but have been upgraded with sway bars front and rear. Under the bonnet is a 8BA Ford Flathead V8 that has been fully rebuilt. The engine was bored 30 thou over with a Sig Erson cam and twin Stromberg Carburettors. The engine is paired to a large case C4 Automatic transmission which feed power to an XW Falcon diff with 3.43 gears. The brakes have also been upgraded to power assisted items with dual master cylinder and running XW Falcon Discs on the front and drums on the rear.
The body of the truck was also restored during the restoration. Any necessary rust repairs were made to the truck before being completely repainted in Nardo Grey. Likewise the chrome was refinished all round. The door has a hand painted logo on the side which gives it a great period character but can be removed without damaging the paintwork underneath should you choose to do so. The truck is lowered over a set of red steel wheels with wide white wall tyres for a classic hot rod look. There is a towbar fitted to the rear should you choose to tow around a small trailer or van.
Open the door to the interior and you will see a custom trimmed bench seat and door panels. The carpets are all new and there is a chrome tilt steering column with new banjo style, red wrapped steering wheel. The automatic shifter is up on the column to allow room for three people across the bench seat and the dash features a set of Moon Eyes gauges. For comfort, the truck has been fitted with ‘Vintage Air’ air conditioning that utilises an electric compressor and componentry mounted under the bed of the truck. Over the bed is a side opening hard cover which opens up to reveal a usable but neatly finished timber bed with polished bed strips. The battery has also been located into the tub for easy access.
This 40 Ford pick up is a great period custom cruiser and would make the perfect shop truck for a car related business or weekend cruiser to get out and enjoy.
