1932 Ford Roadster

This 1932 Ford Roadster has been completely custom built from the ground up into a traditional styled custom hot rod. The build was the work of the boys over at ‘Get Chopped’ in Woodford, QLD and was an excellent way to show off their workmanship.
The build began with an original 1932 Ford Chassis that was boxed and custom braced in house by Darren from Get Chopped. The front end is a So-Cal four bar traditional transverse leaf with drop axle. The front brakes are Wilwood discs with So-Cal finned brake covers and a Wilwood booster and master under the floor. The rear suspension is also traditional transverse leaf spring which has been channelled into the boot floor.

Powering the car is a new crate Chevrolet 350ci V8 engine which has been treated to a set of triple carbs to keep with the old school hot rod flavour. The engine is paired to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission with 3000 rpm stall built by Tricky’s in Toowoomba, QLD. Keeping with the traditional theme throughout the rear end is a Winters quick change.
The body of the roadster is a brand new, all steel, item from Brookville Roadster in the USA. The body includes original style cowl vent, exposed hinges and split bonnet with deleted exterior door handles and Pontiac style taillights. Leather hold down straps ad a neat touch to hold down the bonnet. The car is fenderless instead opting for custom cycle guards that hug the tyres neatly. The whole body and chassis received a coat of a custom colour Get Chopped call ‘Bonnie Plumb’ with the paintwork being completed by Resident Restorations. The windscreen is a shortened and laid back item to keep things sleek. The rod sits on a set of Antique wire wheels all round with bias ply black wall tyres.

Now gorgeous on the outside, the roadster needed an interior to match which was tasked to Lea McCarroll. The So-Cal glide adjustable bench seat along with the door trims have been covered in Stone coloured leather. The floors have been treated to German square weave style traditional carpets with matching trimmed edging. The dash has a set of Auto-Meter classic gauges with billet knobs and switches. The steering column is a chrome tilt item and holds a leather wrapped banjo style wheel. In the centre of the floor is a Lokar style shifter for the auto transmission. Lea also trimmed the custom removable low profile hard top roof for the car with integrated windscreen wipers.

Since the roadster was completed in 2019 it has only travelled approximately 3,000kms and this is the first time it has been offered for sale. A great opportunity to own a professionally built and extremely tastefully styled hot rod without having to go through the stress and time of building one yourself.
