This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback rolled off the production line of the San Jose plant in California in June of 1965. The car was built as an A code, 2+2 Fastback with automatic transmission. The car has been through an extensive restoration in the USA over a three year period from 2007 to 2010 before being imported to Australia in 2012. The current owner is the second Australian owner who purchased the car from Select Auto Group in Croydon, NSW in 2014.
The car was originally finished in Honey Gold metallic from the factory but was changed to Gloss Black during the restoration. There are no major modifications to the classic look of the exterior just the badges deleted off the front guards, GT rear valance and aftermarket spot lights in the grille. The car is given a mild custom look with a set of 17” chrome Foose Nitrous legend Wheels.
Inside the trim has been refinished back to factory. There is a removable centre console with cup holders between the front bucket seats and an aftermarket stereo system with two 6×9” speakers in the rear shelf.
Under the bonnet is a factory correct 289ci 4V V8 engine. The engine is paired to the factory automatic transmission with T-bar shifter. The brakes and power boosted with disc on the front end. There is also power steering to make for a nicer driving experience. The car has been garaged and regularly serviced and maintained. There is a large documentation file with the car that contains various receipts and records of the build. Good examples of these early Mustang fastbacks are always popular whenever we get them in stock. Be sure to register and bid if you can see this one parked in your garage.
