1974 Holden HJ GTS Monaro

HIGHLIGHTS: – Genuine GTS Monaro – Ground up rebuild into restomod – Built, fuel injected, LS1 V8 crate engine – Rebuilt automatic transmission – Nine inch differential – Professional repaint in Orange – All new interior trim – 17” GM Rally wheels

This factory HJ 2 door was one of the first HJ GTS coupes off the production line and one of only 606 GTS car made… Originally a Sydney car and lived it’s life there until the mid-90’s when the original owner sold it and the car was customised into a show car by the second owner and featured in magazines. At that point it had its original 308 replaced with a 350 Chev but was a factory orange with black trim, 308, 4 speed HJ.

Fast forward to the 3rd owner and this car was purchased in 2006 and hardly used. Then in 2012, it was stripped down to a shell again, sandblasted to bare metal and underwent a full body resto. The paint and bodywork on the car have been completed to an extremely high quality. The look externally is completed with a set of 17” GM Rally wheels.

The interior was trimmed in all new long grain HJ vinyl. The floors received new carpet and there is a new headliner up top. The original HJ bucket seats were modified with extra bolstering and the car was assembled with and all new rubbers and glass including side and rear! Inside the boot is neatly fitted out with carpeted panels.

While the car was apart, the sub frame was powder coasted prior to reassembly and from there pretty much every nut and bolt has been replaced. All new steering and suspension components were fitted when it was reassembled. With the original motor gone, the new owner had a brand new LS1 crate motor stripped and rebuilt by Paul at Mad Race engines in approx 2014. The build of the engine cost well over 20k back then and another 4k went into fully rebuilding the automatic transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff.

SEVEN82MOTORS actually sold this car to the current owner upon it’s completion back in 2016. Since then it’s only done approx 2000km’s and has been extremely well looked after. These HJ GTS Coupes don’t come up very often and this one has been extensively restored with some awesome upgrades.
