This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a neatly restored example of a Big Block C3 convertible. The early chrome bumper C3 Stingrays are sought after by collectors and especially when they are factory big block cars. This car was purchased by its current owner in Feb of 2019 and has been well kept since.

The body of the car has been stripped back and fully repainted from its original yellow colour to a deep red. The lines of the Stingray are iconic with a low slung front end with pop up headlights and round tail lights with split bumper in the rear. The vented hood is a giveaway that the car is a big block. The chrome bumpers on this car have been refinished and shine well. There is a luggage rack on the rear and the fold away convertible top has been completely refurbished. To finish the look externally, the car sits on a set of GM Rally wheels with white lettered BF Goodrich TA tyres.

The interior of the car is well presented in a factory style with black leather bucket seats. The seats fold storage with a small amount of storage space behind them and access to the new Optima battery. The factory style steering wheel, gauges and automatic shifter all remain in place. The open feel of driving a convertible with the top down and the note of a big block Chevy is something you really need to experience. Creature comforts include power steering and power disc brakes.

Under the bonnet lives the matching number, 454ci Big Block Chevy V8 rated at 365hp. The engine has been upgraded with a MSD distributer in 2012. The cooling system has also been upgraded with a new Be Cool aluminium radiator, new fan and hoses. The engine is paired to the factory optioned, Turbo Hydro-matic, automatic transmission. The suspension remains standard but has been upgraded with new Bilstein shocks. The brakes were rebuilt with new pads and rotors in 2021.

These early, chrome bumper C3 Convertibles are iconic American muscle cars and this one being a matching number, big block car, should certainly attract some attention. Be sure to register and bid if you’d like to see this one parked in your garage.
