This 1971 Ford Fairmont has been through an extensive ground up build into a one off custom street machine! The car is an original 302ci V8 Fairmont that left the factory finished in the highly desirable colour of Vermillion Fire. The car was purchased by the current owner approximately two years ago but was restored by the previous owner over a number of years being completed in 2019.

The body of the car remains relatively true to how it would have left the factory without any wild visual modifications. The car was stripped down, body worked and file finished before being professionally repainted in its original colour, Vermillion Fire. All of the chrome and trim on the outside of the car was refinished or replaced. The car is fitted with arguably the most desirable option you can have in an XY, the Golde wind back sunroof. The elephant in the room is the shine of the huge blown big block that pokes its head up through the bonnet. Following on with the toughie look, the car sits down nice and low thanks to mini tubs over a set of custom 20” Polished Simmons wheels.

Open the door and you will find a fully refurbished interior with all of the good Fairmont and GS gear. The seats and door trims have all been refinished in white using a factory pattern. The centre console holds a B&M quick shifter with extra gauges and switches hidden under the console lid. The dash is retrofitted with AutoMeter Sport-Comp II gauges throughout. There is a hidden stereo system for tunes while driving and a venetian blind in the rear window.

Under the bonnet now lives a 1000hp, built and blown Big Block Ford V8 engine. The engine build started with a 460ci block that has been stroked to 500ci. Some features include roller rockers, Mezeire electric water pump and ICE ignition. The engine is topped with a massive 8/71 Blower from The Blower Shop and twin Holley 650 double pumper carbs. The engine bay is extremely well presented with hidden wiring, braided lines and Speedflow fittings used throughout. The shock towers are modified to clear the big block with custom strut braces and billet hood hinges. The engine is paired to a built two speed Powerglide automatic transmission with 2800 stall converter and B&M shifter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a fully fabricated nine-inch diff shortened to fit. The suspension has been upgraded to with coil overs up front and a split mono leaf setup with Caltracs in the rear. Cooling is handled by a custom radiator that maximises the real estate at the front of the car and draws air through two large thermo fans. The exhaust is all custom with twin centre exit pipes out the rear. The boot houses a large fuel cell and the battery which has been relocated from the engine bay.

The quality level of this build is right up there, take your time and look through the photos in detail. The nuts and bolt and door catches have all been plated nicely and fit and finish is generally of a very high standard. The build of the car was completed in 2019 with only 2,300 kms travelled since completion. Cars like this don’t come along very often so this is a fantastic opportunity to buy yourself an awesome street machine without having to go through the years or blood sweat and tears and countless dollars involved with building something to this standard.
