This 1971 Holden HG GTS Monaro has been neatly restored and turned into a GTS 350 tribute. The car comes to us as part of a large private collection where it has resided for the last few years. We are told that prior to this the car was purchased from Woolongong, NSW and was fully restored prior to the current ownership. From decoding the tags, we are able to establish that the car was built in the Acacia Ridge Plant in Brisbane and completed in May of 1971. The car was originally a 186S GTS Model finished in Indy Orange with Black interior.

The body of the car has been very nicely restored and professionally repainted in its original colour of Indy Orange, arguably the most desirable HG colour. The body has the factory GTS gear in place and correct black outs applied. The chrome on the outside of the car has all either been refinished or replaced. The car now wears a set of 350 decals on the front guards hinting at what now lives under the bonnet. The factory look is completed with a set of original wheels and caps wrapped in red striped tyres.

Inside the car presents as factory in its code 10X black interior. The original style steering wheel remains in place as do the factory style gauges. There is an aftermarket Sony stereo system mounted in the dash for some tunes while out cruising. The trim on the seats and doors is well presented with only minor signs of wear. Again the boot is neat in a factory style presentation with original style rubber boot mat.

Under the bonnet, the original six banger has been replaced with a 350ci Chevy V8 engine. The engine bay has been dressed to look reasonably original with block painted orange and chrome air cleaner and factory 350 style finned valve covers. The engine is paired to a Turbo 350, three speed automatic transmission. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of extractors into a dual exhaust system. The car has been upgraded to power steering for a better driving experience.

High quality examples of these first generation Monaro’s don’t come into the market very often and this car being a genuine GTS in arguably the best colour combination and upgraded to a 350 V8 spec is certainly an attractive prospect.
