This 1969 Ford XW GT Falcon is a genuine GT that has been through a full ground up restoration. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2006 from ex-V8 super car driver and Fox sports commentator, Mark ‘Larko’ Larkham. Larko owned the car for a number of years, having put the car through a four-year, full ground up restoration from 2002 to 2006.

Starting with the body of the car, the whole thing was stripped back to a shell and back to bare metal in preparation for paint. It is said that the car was  a very good body and had very little rust repairs required. The body was then fully repainted in its factory colour of M code, Reef Green. Once the body colour was on, the GT black outs were added and the car reassembled. The chrome and trim on the car was refinished or replaced during the resto. The usual GT identifiers are on the car with offset bonnet scoop, bonnet pins, front spoiler, badging and side stripe. To complete the factory look on the outside the car sits on a set of factory 14” 12 slot wheels with red striped tyres.

Inside the car has also been completely refinished to factory specs in the original Saddle colour. The correct style GT dash, steering wheel and centre console remain in place inside the car. The carpets have been replaced as has the trim on the seats front and rear. The car was an automatic from the factory but has been converted over to a top loader manual which sticks up through the factory console.

Under the bonnet lives the matching number, 351ci Windsor V8 engine. Larko advised the current owner that he had upgraded the engine to include a HO intake and 750cfm carby during the rebuild. The engine is paired to a four speed Top loader manual transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory nine inch diff with 3.5 diff gears. The original suspension and brakes remain in place but have been refurbished.

The sale of the car includes the original Cruisomatic automatic transmission as well as the original intake, carburettor and various other parts. The car comes with a letter from Ford and has been independently inspected by ICAARS to confirm authenticity and give you piece of mind you’re getting the real deal. High quality XW GT Falcons like this don’t come up very often and this one has a great know history and is associated with an Aussie racing legend. These GT’s are great collector and investment grade Aussie muscle cars and this is a very nice example.
