This 1966 Chevy Corvette Stingray coupe comes to us as part of a large private collection. According to the tags on the car, the body was manufactured at the GM A.O Smith plant on the 1^st of June, 1966. The car was finished in Silver Pearl Metallic with black interior and left the factory as a 300hp, 327ci V8 car with an automatic transmission. The car is packed full of options and would have to be one of the highest optioned C2s we have seen. Not much is known about the early life of the car but it was imported to Australia from Illinois in 2012. The car was then sold to the current owner who was had it for around 10 years.

The body of the car has been repainted in a deep red colour at some stage in the US. The shape of these C2 Corvettes are absolutely iconic with pop up lights, long bonnet, boat tail rear end and wrap around rear window. There are a few minor modifications to the body that was typical of what guys were doing back in the day which include slightly radiused rear guards, a triple tail light conversion and a 67 model reverse light. The car sits on a set of 15” GM rally wheels with white lettered tyres.

Open the door and the interior is completely factory in presentation with the factory seats retaining their black trim. It should be noted that the base of the seats are coming apart at the seams which you might not pick up in the pictures. The car is optioned with a T bar automatic, power windows, power steering and has also been fitted with air conditioning.

Under the bonnet lives the original, matching numbers, 327ci V8 engine rated at 300hp. We can tell the block is original by the partial vin stamped into the pad. The engine is paired to a Powerglide automatic transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through the factory diff. The car retains its factory independent suspension all round and the brakes are four wheel discs. Power steering makes for a nice driving experience.

These 2^nd Generation Corvette’s are great collector American sports cars and one of the best looking body styles of all time. This example is matching numbers and well optioned throughout. Be sure to register and bid if you would like to see this Stingray parked in your garage.
