This 1953 International AR110 has been fully rebuilt from the ground up into a one off custom truck. The car was built by a previous owner Tony Otto who has built a fair few cool cars over the years. This truck was his fathers and Tony says he used to drive it around a paddock back when he was 12 years old. By the time the build began it was just an old body sitting on a chassis in the field so it was always going to be a ground up job to rebuild it.

Starting with the chassis, this received a huge amount of modification to ensure the truck would actually drive well. An old school hotrodder’s go to for these kinds of upgrades is an XJ6 Jaguar. So a donor was purchased and used for its suspension and brakes both front and rear. The front and rear clips were put in place and the chassis strengthened as required. Powering the truck is a Chrysler 245ci Hemi inline 6 cyl which was fully rebuilt and upgraded with a Holley twin barrel carb. The engine is paired to a Borg Warner three speed automatic transmission and power is fed to the rear wheels through the Jaguar diff. The brakes are one of the biggest advantages of running the Jaguar gear with power assistance there are four piston caliper discs up front and inboard disc brakes on the rear. Under the back the truck is fitted with a towbar should you need to move anything with it.

The body of the truck is the original RHD AR110 short wheel base cab. The front end has been upgraded with a set of front guards from a larger AR160 truck which added six inches to the width of the truck at the front. The guards did have to be shortened and modified to fit but it gives is a unique appearance. The bonnet is a cool feature on this truck, being able to be opened from either side. Tony painted the truck himself in a faux patina style which we have to say, is a very convincing job and would fool a lot of people into thinking it was genuine age. Some imperfections were intentionally left in the body work to sell the pantina look. The doors were custom sign written in an old school style and the tray was made up for the back of it. After Tony sold the truck it was further developed with the “Moonshine” theme adding a fake Moonshine distillery to the back and adding the Moonshine wording into the doors. To complete the look, the truck sits slammed down low over a set of 15×6 Coy C5 wheels.

The inside of the truck has been completely refinished. The truck is factory right hand drive and the interior of the cab has been painted in cream. The dash features a full set of aftermarket gauges to keep an eye on what’s happening under the hood. Front and centre is an aftermarket tilt column holding a billet style wheel while the automatic shift sticks up high out of the floor. The seats and door trims have been retrimmed using cream vinyl with a grey fabric insert. The windows have been converted to one piece power glass and there is an aftermarket air conditioning system to keep things cool in the cabin.

This is a one-off custom built rat rod style pick up truck with a huge number of upgrades throughout. The truck has been mod plated for QLD and previously registered here. You won’t pull up at a set of traffic lights beside another one of these on the way to work! Be sure to register and bid if you want to see this one parked in your garage.
