This 1933 Ford 5 window coupe is a real deal, original ’33 Ford that has been neatly modified into a custom hot rod. Everyone loves a hot rod, and there are plenty of them around, but many of them are built using reproduction fiberglass or steel bodies. It’s much rarer that the opportunity comes up to buy an original car that has been transformed into a bad ass hot rod like this one.

Starting with the body, the decision was made to leave the roof unchopped. The car still cuts a sleek profile though thanks to being channelled 5 inches over the frame.  The guards, running boards and bonnet were all deleted for an old school look and the whole body was professionally painted in bright Yellow channelling American Graffiti vibes. There is a chrome 33 grille up front that has been dropped down and laid back slightly. Some cool factory features are the suicide doors and wind out windscreen. The look of the car is completed externally with a set of staggered 15” wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson tyres.

Open the door and you will find a neat custom trim finished in black to contrast the bright exterior. There are all new carpets on the floor with a Lokar automatic shifter poking up between the bucket seats. A full set of Classic Instruments gauges and Mooneyes tacho keep and eye on vital signs. Steering is handled through a Pete and Jakes steering wheel mounted on an Ididit chrome column. For tunes while cruising there is an aftermarket stereo system installed.

Powering the beast is a 351ci Cleveland V8 engine that is proudly on display and highly detailed. The engine features Edelbrock alloy heads, a chrome tunnel ram intake and dual Edelbrock four-barrel carbs. Its neatly detailed with finned valley cover, chrome air scoop, Ford Motorsports rocker covers, chrome lead covers, chrome water pump, chrome alternator, chrome sump and chrome starter. Spark is provided by a Mallory Promaster coil and colour coded yellow leads. Exhaust gases escape through four into one custom headers with removable block off plates and then a full length exhaust that runs underneath the car. The engine is paired to a Ford C6 automatic transmission with Lokar shifter. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a nine inch diff with polished quick change rear cover.

The chassis of the car is the original box frame but has been modified with a four in drop axle with multi leaf springs up front and converted over to a ladder bar coil over rear end. Steering has been upgraded to use a Mustang steering box. The brakes as power boosted thanks to and underfloor vacuum booster with 11” discs up front and drums in the rear. The battery has been relocated to the boot and the whole car has been rewired using a Haywire kit. The whole underside of the car, the chassis, diff, tail shaft and ladder bars have all been painted in body colour with various other components polished or chrome plated.

The car has been completed for a number of years now and has been driven and used sparingly since with the odometer currently displaying just under 12,000 miles. The car is fitted with a mod plate for QLD and has previously been on QLD club registration.
