This 1953 Willys Pick up is a rare old truck that has come to us as a running project for someone to restore or put their own spin on. The truck has received a few upgrades over the years and is being offered at NO RESERVE.
The body of the truck itself appears to be very solid for a car of this age and looks to have lived most of its life in a dry environment protected from the elements. The truck appears to have had a quick closed door repainted at some stage a long time ago in a dark green colour using an old acrylic paint. The inside of the cab is a burgundy colour which is believed to be the original colour of the truck. The inside of the tub has been coated with a hard wearing spray in bed lining. The truck sits on a set of 16 inch steel wheels neatly painted cream with 7.50-16 Dunlop Radial tyres including two side mounted spares.
Inside theses trucks was utilitarian and never fitted with creature comforts. The factory bench seat has been removed with two 70s era bucket seats used instead. The door trims have been replaced with chequer plate and there is a rubber mat on the floor. The truck has been converted to 12 volt and has indicators added front and rear. A trio of aftermarket gauges are mounted under the dash. The wipers have been converted to electric and there is an electric fuel pump.
Under the bonnet would originally have been a little 75hp flat head four cylinder but now lives a 200ci Ford incline 6 cyl engine. The engine is paired to a T-90 three speed manual transmission and four wheel drive system through Dana 25 front and Timken 51540 rear axles. The truck does run and drive however the clutch will require attention. The truck has the factory 10 inch drum brakes on all four corners.
This is a rare truck and a decent foundation for someone to restore, hot rod or tinker with and drive around. It is offered at NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction.
