1969 Holden HK Brougham Restomod

HIGHLIGHTS: – Top of the line Brougham – Factory look externally – Factory style Brocade interior – LS1 Fuel injected V8 engine – Turbo 400 Automatic – Air conditioning

This 1969 Holden HK Brougham combined the best of both old school style and charm with modern performance and reliability. The Brougham was essentially the precursor to the Statesman, with an all new longer body and a wider platform, it was the top of the line luxury offering from Holden at the time. With the 307ci V8 and Powerglide transmission as standard, the Brougham also featured power front disc brakes, power steering, a vinyl roof, Brocade upholstery, heater/demisters and carpeting included in the list price of $3,855.

Externally, this car appears to be a nice survivor style car, factory burgundy paintwork and vinyl roof and sitting on factory style wheels and hubcaps with white wall tyres. There is an accessory sunvisor over the top of the windshield, mud flap and a protector strip down the side. Visually, its what your Grandpa would have driven around back in the early 70s.

Inside is a similar story, the Parchment coloured Brocade interior is well presented all round. The factory style steering wheel remains in place and there are only a few things that hint at it being anything other than a survivor car. Neatly mounted into the dash is a set of ‘Vintage air’ air conditioning controls, which helps to keep the cabins comfortable. There is also a pair of 6×9 speakers mounted in pods on the back parcel shelf.

Lift the bonnet and you can see this isn’t your Grandpa’s old cruiser. Under the bonnet is a fuel injected 5.7L LS1 V8 with more than enough power to get the party started. The install is neat with the factory engine covers painted burgundy to match the car. A custom air intake and filet has been neatly fabricated behind the radiator support. The engine is paired to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The car also has power steering and power boosted brakes with discs up front.

A great Aussie classic cruise that combines the best of nostalgic styling with modern performance and reliability.
