1969 Dodge Charger Coupe
There is no doubt that the ’68 Charger is one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time! The muscular body lines and hideaway headlights are some of the most recognisable features. Made famous by films like Bullitt, which included one of the greatest car chases of all time and more recently the Fast and the Furious franchise both featuring Black B-Body Chargers. They are certainly a cult car in the muscle car world and we think we have a killer example available here for you.
Black is a colour that never goes out of style, especially on a Charger and this car is a perfect example. While they look good in any colour, there is a reason that the Bullitt car and Toretto’s car were both Black, it’s the best colour on these cars hands down. The gloss black paintwork sits smoothly over the body which is laser straight. The chrome bumpers are in good shape and the car sits on a set of black 15” steel wheels with white lettered tyres.
Under the bonnet is the standard 318ci V8 which has been fully rebuild and paired to the ever reliable Torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission. The car has been upgraded to include four wheel power disc brakes to ensure it stops when you stand on the pedal. Power steering adds to the driving experience. The car has been fully rewired to ensure there isn’t a host of electrical faults caused by brittle old wiring. Recent work includes new shocks and new mufflers.
Inside the car has been fully re-trimmed, again in Black, by North Coast Custom Trim on the Sunshine Coast. Fresh black leather was applied to the seats and door cards, with new door and window rubbers, new carpets and a new head lining. Mixing old and new, a vintage Mopar steering wheel and modern stereo was also installed. There’s air con for cool cruising and an anti-theft tracker was an important addition for a car this desirable.
Even though its not a Hemi or a 440 car, a nice bodied black on black ’68 Charger is cool in anyone’s language.
