RHD 1938 Chevrolet 5 window dicky seat Coupe
Said to be one of only 16 RHD cars made in 1938 in this body style with a dicky seat. Originally manufactured in New York for export as knock down kits, it is said that 12 cars went to England and 4 to South Africa. This particular example is one of the South African car that has since been fully restored and is in great condition throughout… Running the original 216ci “stovebolt” 6cyl and 3 speed floor change manual transmission, the car is restored to factory standard with the exception of an upgraded 12 volt electrical system. Presented in cream with orange highlights the paintwork is in good condition all round. The interior has also been refinished in black vinyl and black wood grain style trim around the windows and windscreen. The chrome front and rear bumpers were refinished during the restoration and are both in good condition. The car sits on a set of factory style 16 inch steel wheels with correct hubcaps and dress trims wrapped in Coker Classic wide white wall tyres all round. The rear features a single tail light which was factory for that era as well as the rear mounted spare wheel and dicky seat steps which are unique to this model. A very rare vintage chev to add to you collection… or, save this one from the purists and turn it into a bomb, tail dragger or hot rod. ;).
