This 2018 Absolute Pace Cobra is a hand built high end modern Supercar packaged in a classic form. This is not your average Cobra Replica, everything about this car is top of the line, high tech and performance focused. It just happens to look like a 427 Shelby Cobra!
This particular car was factory built in house by Absolute Pace themselves and is one of the highest spec cars you will ever see. The car was being used as display piece in the showrooms of Bentley /Lamborghini Brisbane by its original owner when the current owner discovered it and negotiated to purchase it directly from Bently in late 2021. At the time the car had only travelled approximately 2000km since construction. The car has since had several smaller upgrades to suite its current owner, upgraded adjustable shocks, upgraded heavy duty race axles and CVs and a more aggressive tune to +600hp.
Starting with the body, this car is an extremely accurate replica of a 427 SC body. This particular example has the very expensive carbon fibre body option which is constructed using one piece of carbon fibre composite construction. This makes it super lightweight, at only 46 kg, yet extremely strong. The boot and bonnet are also constructed using carbon fibre composite with the doors constructed of a reinforced Kevlar/Carbon. The body on this car was professionally painted in Lamborghini Vino Rosso metallic and protected by a full car clear wrap. The underbody is fitted with a low drag flat aluminium floor and unique side exhaust mounting to allow for low stance but full ground clearance. All fittings, hinges, gas struts mounting brackets Etc on the car are of polished stainless or alloy. The external look is completed with a set of 18’’ Halibrand retro style racing wheels with genuine knock offs wrapped in semi slick tyres measuring 245 up front and a huge 355 in the rear.
Although the interior is minimal, what is there has been finished to an extremely high standard. It should be noted that the chassis design of these Absolute Pace cars allow for drivers even up over 6 feet tall. Carbon fibre composite seats are wrapped in tan leather with Bentley diamond stitching detail. The cockpit has an exposed carbon fibre dash and trim highlights with retro electronic gauges and push button start. A polished Wooden steering wheel sits front and professional competition level Tilton race pedals are used on the floor. The drivers side is equipped with full race harness in addition to the lap sash belts incase you want to get out on the track. There is also a polished rollover protection bar behind the driver. The boot has a floor matt trimmed in the same diamond stitch leather to match the seats and shows off the incredible cantilever coil over setup of the rear suspension.
Lift the bonnet and you will find a very neatly presented engine bay housing a Supercharged, 6.2L Chevy LSA V8 engine. The boost has been bumped up to 10psi and with a tune from Hi-Torque Performance now makes over 600hp. The engine is paired to a MG09 six speed manual transmission. There is a short shifter for some quick gear changing as well as a brake activated reverse lock out. Power is fed to the rear wheels through an independent rear differential manufactured by ZF. The diff features an aluminium housing, 8.3” crown wheel and shot-peened gearsets with LSD. The driveshafts are custom 4340 Chromoly race axles with 108mm CV Joints & Chromoly stub axles. The side exit exhausts are live and as rowdy as they come. The car has epic sounding pops and bangs on deceleration and sounds incredible roaring down the road.
The chassis itself is constructed using a TIG welded aluminium Semi-Monocoque chassis featuring drivetrain mount points and mounting points for other major components. While maintaining a crazy light weight of only 100 kg, the chassis also features the enhanced safety and strength of a full welded aluminium panelled cockpit in the form of a Monocoque Structure. The suspension is a work of art utilising a premium rocker/pushrod suspension design front and rear. Incorporating CNC billet aluminium, A-arms & uprights. The chassis features adjustable suspension mount locations to allow owners to significantly lower the vehicle without adversely affected suspension geometry. Perfect for both street use with the occasional track day or full-time track work. The steering is power assisted with 2 speed switch adjustment. The brakes are equally as impressive as the acceleration using 350mm discs with 6 piston Brembo callipers.
This Cobra has been built using an absolute, no expense spared mentality, using the best available parts and resources. With its light weight, the car is blistering fast but also handles and stops just as impressively.
